Once upon a time there was a girl who felt like she came from another planet. She wanted to belong but often would feel on the periphery with her head in the clouds.
She learnt the art of fitting in, adapting to others, mirroring them so every body liked her and thought she was one of them. She liked life like this, she met wonderful people and was surrounded with love and support. She thought she was happy.
But then one day she wasn’t. One day she realised that for many many days she hadn’t been happy, not truly happy. One day she realised she was completely lost and had no idea how or why. So she started to untangle herself from this life until one day she was left with nothing.
Slowly she started to weave a new life and it felt good, it felt right, with more consideration, more patience and love she rebuilt her life. This time she got it right.
Old friends and activities were woven back in, with beautiful strands of golden thread and new friends were sewn into beautiful new patterns of life. Little by little the weaving of her story took shape and found a new place within her heart, full of all the love and support she could ever dream of.
Well…not quite but it’s a work in progress which she now fully enjoys and embraces with love and determination.
Not the end…
Born and raised in the UK, Shirley now lives in Montreal, Canada with her son. Drawing and writing were always great passions of hers as a child and led her to gaining a Bachelor of Honours in Fine Art from the University of Plymouth, UK. After leaving university, she stopped creating and trained to become a professional homoeopath. In 2013 she moved to Montreal and was unable to practice Homeopathic Medicine, so she started to draw and write again as a way to re-find herself. This led her to opening her Etsy shop selling prints and greeting cards and self publishing her books. She has since illustrated a number of other people’s books too and continues to paint and write daily.
